Brandon Cronenberg wrote the first script for Infinity Pool with the intention of directing the film. He created the story from his real-life experiences during the holiday season and from a sci-fi story he wrote about killing clones. Cronenberg began the development of the project in 2019, with production later pushed back to 2021. Many actors joined the project that year and mainly filming took place in Šibenik, Croatia.
