Top Gun: Maverick is a 2022 American drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer and Christopher McQuarrie based on a story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks.

    The movie is a sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun. Tom Cruise reprises his starring role as Navy aviator Maverick. It is based on the characters from the original film, created by Jim Cash and Jack Epps Jr.

Faced with an uncertain future and the ghosts of his past, Maverick confronts his own worst fears, leading to a goal that requires the ultimate sacrifice of whoever is chosen to fly.

Film Awards

It became the best film of the National Board of Review and selected by the American Film Institute as one of the top ten films of 2022. The film nominated for six awards at the 95th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won numerous awards. It grossed $1.489 billion worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2022 and the 2nd  highest-grossing film of Cruise’s career.
